Set Sail for Adventure: "Nostromo" - 2009 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42DS - Langkawi, Malaysia
Ready for her next chapter, Nostromo is a well-loved 42DS, based here in tropical Langkawi, this is the ideal platform for someone looking to cruise Southeast Asia in comfort, without paying for a shiny new price tag.
The current owner has been busy. Since 2024, he's done quite a few upgrades: a new main sail and a new UV strip on the Genoa. A major bonus is the new standing rigging by Rolly Tasker in 2024, stainless lifelines, and a rock-solid hardtop bimini with a Sunbrella dodger. You'll also find EVA foam in the cockpit, new stainless dinghy davits, and a new (2025) Highfield CL301 with a 20HP four-stroke Suzuki strapped to the back.
Electrically, she's ready for extended cruising or liveaboard life--four new 250W solar panels feed a healthy house bank, backed by a Simrad Go7 chartplotter with the South China Sea card and AIS. Below deck, the layout is classic 42DS, with two new Jabsco electric heads, and a new ENO 3-burner oven waiting for your next sundowner meal.
Nostromo is being sold honestly. She's got valuable new gear, but she's also looking for an owner who's ready to take on a few finishing projects. The bones are good and whilst the current owner has done some noticeable upgrades there are some jobs that will need your attention to get her up to cruising standard. The current owner has been very transparent about what he feels needs to be done.
In short: Nostromo is priced for a buyer who sees the incredible value in all that new gear and doesn't mind rolling up their sleeves for the rest. She's honest, capable, and ready to meet her next skipper in Langkawi. Serious inquiries only--come take a look.

Remarks:
From owner:
"Purchased in August 2023 in Kota Kinabalu and sailed around KK for a couple months. Left KK at the end of 2023 and sailed along Northern Borneo, across the South China Sea, up the Malacca Straight, and arrived in Phuket at beginning of 2024. Hauled out and did some work in 2024 at Boat Lagoon in Phuket. After relaunching, I sailed around Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, etc.. And then sailed to Rebak/Langkawi in the 1st half of 2026. Boat is now at Rebak. Yacht-blasted, primed, and antifoul done in 2024, so definitely ready for new antifoul. I am the 3rd owner as far as I know."
