Pegasos - 1979 Searunner 37 Trimaran. Built for the anchorages other boats can't reach.

Most cruising boats keep you tied to the crowded spots. Pegasos is different. She was designed by multihull legend Jim Brown to be a safe, comfortable offshore cruiser--and he attained world wide recognition for his designs. Big volume side floats, a deep main hull, wide decks, plenty of storage, and a large, dry, shaded central cockpit. The result? A boat that absolutely loves the quiet side of cruising.

The current owners bought Pegasos in Brisbane back in 2017 and have slowly wandered through SE Asia. Now they're planning new adventures in Europe, so this trimaran is ready for her next chapter.

Here's where she shines. With the centreboard up, she draws only 0.8 metres. Pair that with a tripleshot fishfinder to read the bottom, and ground tackle that holds beautifully on a short scope, and you can confidently anchor in tight little bays, narrow gaps in reefs, and secluded mangrove waterways that most boats just can't get into. We're talking remote islands, seldom-visited reefs, and proper off-the-beaten-path destinations.

The wide decks aren't just for walking. They've got room for yoga, sundowners, a couple of kayaks, and a properly large, capable dinghy. Add solar panels and a watermaker, and Pegasos is comfortably self-sufficient for extended trips with no marinas in sight.

Right now, she's on the hardstand at Rebak Marina, where she's been antifouled, cleaned up, and fully serviced. Ready to go exploring again.

Under sail: Searunners are famously easy to sail--great for single handers or novices. No heeling. Hydraulic wheel steering is very light and integrates beautifully with the electric-hydraulic autopilot. At just 5 tons, forces aren't excessive, and most lines can be managed by hand. Best of all, the centreboard and mast are located right in the central cockpit, so every winch, halyard, sheet, centreboard control, reefing line, and furling line is within easy reach of the helm. Cutter rig and centreboard mean she performs nicely at all wind angles.

With a double berth, a single berth and a spacious head and shower area forward of the mast, and a double berth, engine access, navigation area and galley, aft of the cockpit, there is plenty of room for family and friends. A character filled boat full of simple suprises.

Pegasos is currently in Langkawi and ready for a viewing. If you're looking for a boat that'll take you somewhere different--reach out to us at SYS to arrange a viewing.
