Have you had enough of trying to catch the wind?
Tired of hoisting sails?
Are you looking for a comfortable, capable, and charming motor cruiser to use as a live aboard base, for full time living, or periodic seasonal coastal cruising?
Then look no further!
This boat has charm of plenty! She has a classic traditional design, the hull built from strip planked heavy hardwood, glued with Epoxy, and layered with four layers of biaxial glass 600g. Built with love and purpose, she was planned as a full time live aboard, with initially coastal cruising in mind, but she is extremely capable of longer crossings.
With 500 ltr of water storage, a water maker, solar panels, and Lithium batteries, as well as a 2016 installed 120 HP ISUZU engine, she is primed for remote living, and independent cruising. Her keel shape allows her to be beached, so exploring shallow water ways, or beaching for an emergency repair, anywhere, is easy. You can explore all those places others cannot, and discover your own new adventures.
She has an amazing list of electronics, all up to date, an auto pilot, a crane for hoisting the dingy, and even a helm chair that raises up, so you can see through the cabin top hatch. For maximum viewing performance.
There is so much thought into this unique boat, you will be amazed.
The open plan living space is multi purpose, incorporating the galley, saloon, and helm station. It is spacious, with purposefully designed storage spaces. It is charming, and traditional, yet minimalist in plan. She is cosy and graceful and very homely.
The split level living environment, allows for privacy and separate space, and only increases the element of charm. Stepping down into the bedroom area is almost magical.
Blending the wood work, and rustic interior, with the exposed beans and unlined inner hull, you really know you are in the belly of a strong boat. Designed to expand on the space, and to also mesh the outside with the in, an extremely large hatch over the double bed opens to the sky, with use of a electrical actuator (arm). From bed, you can stare at the shooting stars, or nestle with a book during the day in the warm sunshine. The hatch even has a "rain" detection for automatic closure.
There is also a large single bed tucked onto the starboard side of the hull, ideal for a guest, or for a child. Currently the shelving remains exposed, and storage is open, and this builds on the semi industrial, rustic charm of the boat. In the fore peak of the boat, ( where the bed originally was) would be an ideal place for developing an indoor shower and toilet, if one was desired.
Easy access to the engine room, and all electronics and batteries, is via a large opening hatch in the Saloon floor. The aft, out door space is benched on 3 sides, with a table and is an ideal place to lye in your hammock. All fully shaded. Opening hinged doors into the galley allow for ease of access to passing food/ items in and out. In the crook of the cabin top, there is also places for rest, shade, and personal space. In fact, the entire boat, including the foredeck, and the top of the cabin roof, has great potential to expand the living spaces and personal experiences.
She is safe, and strong, and definitely an alternative to your options if a life on the sea is what you are after.
She is a unique boat, with extra thought and input from both of her owners.
Extremely well maintained and ready to go.
Currently she is berthed in the stunning REBAK Marina, Langkawi, where berthing is economical, and residents get full use of all the resort facilities, inclusive of the private beach, swimming pool, bars and restaurants, and tennis courts!
Even just using Sirius B as a floating home while berthed full time in Rebak, could be an option for you.
We have included some personal words from the Builder/ First owner. And we are really excited to have Sirius B on our listings. And we look forward to hearing from you soon.
The builder explains: The whole design is based on proven and well known working boats of the North West of the United States and Northern Europe; both are very rough areas where only the best designs could survive the harsh sea conditions.
In my mind was a boat what can survive anything what the sea can throw on it.
Also the boat has to be very economical to operate, easy to maintain and must have a huge range to reach far places under engine alone.
The most important factor is seaworthiness, comfort and at last the speed of the boat.
Every scantling was designed that she can withstand everything what the sea can trough on her,
even floating things and ice should not be a problem for here.
In the case of engine failure, an emergency rig can be installed and will bring the crew safely to the next harbour.
Big Water and diesel tanks make the boat autark for many months at sea.
As building material I choose the finest tropical hardwoods, Balau, Chengal and Ironwood.
The fastenings are galvanised boat nails for the hull planking, stainless steel bolts throughout.
For the laminated beams and frames I used AERODUX 500 and for all the rest I used Epoxy glues.
The outside hull is sheathed heavily with four layers of biaxial glass 600g/m2 and Epoxy.
This will block the planking strips from moving too much, make the hull easy to maintain and absolutely watertight.
The inside of the hull is the beautiful bare wood oiled with a mixture of Tung oil and Pine oil.
No chemicals are used inside the boat !
The hull also allows beaching the boat, which is very important in an emergency or in remote areas.
